Bagua Vase
An impressive looking elaborate lidded Chinese Bagua 八卦vase the central body of elegant octagonal shape, incorporating the eight trigrams of the I Ching, arranged octagonal around a symbol denoting the balance of Yin and Yang.
A wide neck bearing mythical bird heads above curled handles, containing circular free moving rings, at opposite ends.
The cover bordered by key lock design surmounted by a Kylin front paws seated. A spreading foot bordered by key lock design. Archaic characters are carved around. The vase a deep dark green in colour.
The vase is carved from a single block of stone
Bagua symbols represent the constantly changing forces and natural phenomena of the universe as described in the I-Ching
The eight trigrams are Heaven, Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Mountain and Lake.
Not being an expert on any stone / jade etc, I refer the classification of stone to the expertise of others.
