PAIR OF LACQUER TRAYS
An outstanding spectacular pair of maki e i e lacquer trays decorated with sprays of bamboo leaves.
The rims are edged in Japanese silver.
The trays were for the ceremonial giving of steamed buns ( Manju) by the bride to the relatives and neighbours. This is why the trays are called Manju, meaning Longevity.
