Vase 1930's
Early Showa Period 1930's
A magnificent impressive copper bronze vase very much in the style of the Meiji period.
The neck with opposing gilded phoenix, centred above is the jewelled Tama, above and below stylised clouds.
The top of the body with superb Shachihoko (Dragon Fish)on either side, curling frothing waves issuing forth from their mouths.
Four separate panels each with differing flowers birds and rockery.
A central ledge with lappets.
A circular base with waves and foam around, black turtles (minogame said to live at least a thousand years some say 10,000 years and have a long, hairy tail) supporting three decorated legs cloud formations and cranes .
