Kwan Yin on Shishi
A magnificent Chinese ivory composition of Kwan Yin seated on a large Shishi wearing a jewelled necklace.
Dressed in flowing robes and trailing ribbons, her right leg down, her left resting on the back of the Shishi.
The right hand holding a lotus blossom on a long stem the symbol of purity.
The left holding a bottle of sacred oil that has transformed into clouds on which sits her attendant one hand on top of the other.
The powerful Shishi, nostrils flaring, mouth agape teeth displayed, its magnificent bushy tail upright.
Standing on four legs on a lotus leaved plinth.

This is an exceptional finely carved and detailed three dimensional carving from the centre of a large tusk, it is absolutely superb.
A hardwood fitted stand .
