Tripod Censer
A CHINESE FINELY CARVED IVORY TRIPOD CENSER
Circa 1950s
Of oval cylindrical form, carved in high and low relief with multiple dragons on two scalloped reserves. Arched handles on opposite sides, each intaglio carved with scrolling, elephant head above each carrying a loose ring. The flaming jewel on either side centred with a red coral and green jade coloured stone
The body displaying Taotie masks above supporting three clawed ball legs .
Surmounted by a well carved cover in high relief bearing three dragons the flaming jewel centred with a red coral coloured stone.
The underside with a two character Period Mark
The beautiful ivory grain clearly visible. A superb censer displayed on a fitted wood stand.
Ivory Carvings of this quality are becoming hard to obtain.
