Dragon Vases
Chinese Overlay (Peking) Glass Vase
A splendid impressive antique Chinese Pair (?) overlay glass vases.
Carved around with a dragon amongst swirling clouds, waves around the base. Superbly carved in fine detail through the dark red overlay ovcer a milky base.
A Qianlong period mark set within a rectangle carved though the overlay on the outside of the vase.
The vases are not identical,(which normally qualifies as a pair), they are however nearly identical in design.
They were bought from a Japanese collector as a pair and for the past 40 and more years have been displayed as a pair.
They are exceptional outstanding examples of Chinese Overlay Glass.
Late Qing Dynasty early Republic period
Purchased in Japan over 45 years ago, formerly the property of a Japanese collector.
