Dragon

A magnificent antique (mid 19th) Old Cloisonné 古董景泰蓝 portrayal of a Dragon its elongated body standing on all four legs, tail curled over the right back leg.

The body of bronze casting, Cloisonné enamelled, the spectacular Gilt head, mouth agape, tongue extended, long whiskers curling nearly the length of its horns.

The body exquisitely enamelled, in colours of aqua, puce, ochre, blue, yellow, white, with small stylised archaic dragon chilong, flame designs and more.

Within the mouth is a section to place a long incense stick.

Formerly the property of a Japanese collector.

Condition: Excellent for age, undamaged, slight wear, old natural patination verdegris.
