Antique Chinese Hardwood Scroll Pot
A majestic scroll pot of impressive proportion.
This pot, the purpose of which is to hold hand scrolls would have graced the table of a person of importance.
Of square shape superbly carved in high relief on each rectangular panel with a sinuous five clawed dragon descending upon a flaming pearl against a ground of scrolling waves above curling cresting waves.
The borders and mouth carved with key fret design.
The hardwood base carved continuously around with spectacular foaming waves.
