An exceptional brush pot, superbly carved in high and low relief.
Two scholars in a pavilion one seated the other standing, to the left leafy bamboo, mountain ranges, clouds, rocky outcrop and flowing river.
To the right an attendant can be seen beside a gnarled pine tree, overhanging branches, fives lines of calligraphy carved in high relief.
Formerly the property of a Japanese collector - acquired over 40 years ago.
