A superb rare antique Chinese Calligraphic Bamboo Brush pot.
The colour of dark honey
The calligraphy on this brushpot is written in 行书 Xingshu script, according to a Chinese friend of ours is an excerpt from Fanghe Ting witten by Lin Hejing.
Unable to provide a full translation of the calligraphy as our Chinese friend cannot read it all.
Have not been able to locate an English translation (if anyone knows please advise)
Beautifully written and superbly carved calligraphy, as though painted by a Calligraphy Master's ink brush.
Formerly the property of a Japanese collector.

He spent his time planting more than 300 plum trees and raised cranes on Solitary Hill.
He was so dedicated to his endeavours that people said he had 'taken the plum blossom as his wife and the cranes as his children'. 梅妻鹤子. mei qi he zi.
