A highly collectable handmade, large heavy hand beaten iron lock of the Edo Period, with original key.

This type of lock is known as a 3 flange.

The shape of this lock in Japanese is called Taiko, because it is said the lower half looks like a Japanese drum.

Formerly the property of a Japanese collector.
