A highly collectable handmade, large heavy hand beaten iron lock of the Edo Period, with original key.

This type of lock is known as a 3 flange.

The shape of this lock in Japanese is called Fune, because it is said the lower half looks like the hull of an Edo period sailing ship.

Formerly the property of a Japanese collector.
